Please join us at 6:00pm in the FEISTEY lounge for our annual elections. Have a say in who is on the FEISTEY Executive Board for the 2012-2013 school year. If you are interested in running please email ryan@templeemanuel.ca the following pieces of information:
- Please fill out this form and hand it in to Ryan or Micah before May 18th: FEISTEY Candidacy Letter
- Prepare the following materials as stated in the FEISTEY Constitution:
Article VI: Procedures for Candidacy, Elections, Appointments and Voting
Section A: Declaring Candidacy
Any member of FEISTEY in good standing may run for an elected or appointed position provided that he or she will be a member of FEISTEY in his or her year in office.
Section B: Letters of Intent
- A letter must be sent by all candidates to the president including: signatures from their parents, and Youth Programming Advisor. Letter must be received on the deadline date mentioned.
- Anyone running or applying for an office must include a detailed letter including: Qualifications for the job, personal view of the job, plans for the future of the job, and
- anything else the candidate feels is applicable. Letters should be double-sided for President, and single-sided for all other candidates of elected positions. This letter will be sent to all FEISTEY constiuents one week prior to the elections.
- Upon receipt of the letter of intent, with all of its afformentioned subjects present, the president will send a confirmation of their candidacy.
Section C: Elections & Appointments
- Officers shall be elected or appointed for a term of one year on the election date, the only exception being the Rover.
- Executive Board members may not hold more than one elected position at a time.
- No campaigning may take place before the election period.
- There will be no co-running for elected or appointed positions.
Section D: Speeches
- Two-minute speeches will be given by each candidate for each office.
- Presidential candidates will be given four minutes.
Section E: Forums
- All candidates for an elected position will answer questions posed by youth group members on election day.
- Questions will be screened by the ranking executive officer present. Outgoing officers will distribute to all participants a list of possible questions for their office.
Section F: Voting
- Elections will be held by secret ballot.
- Each constituent of FEISTEY represents one vote.
- Voting will take place after candidates leave the room.
- Votes will be taken by secret ballot.
- Ballots will be collected and counted by the President and Youth Programming Advisor.
- If three or more candidates are running for an office and a clear majority is not given to any one candidate, the president will announce the two candidates with the greatest number of votes. These two candidates will compete in a run-off.
- In the event of a tie, the President shall cast the tie-breaking vote, which he or she shall not reveal. The President shall under no circumstances reveal the amount of votes any candidate receives.
- Votes will be announced to the candidates first, then to the general board by the President.
Section G: Drop-Down Candidates
- A candidate for the Executive board has the option to, and is limited to, one drop down, of which he or she must inform the FEISTEY President in his or her letter of intent to run, all of which the president will keep confidential.
- A decision to drop from an Executive position to a lower Executive position constitutes a drop-down.
Section H: The Rover
- The Rover shall be appointed by the members of the newly elected Executive Board prior to June 30th.

Article VII: Miscellaneous
Section D: Amendments
- All proposed amendments to this constitution must be submitted in writing to the President and the Regional Director at least two weeks prior to a board meeting.
- A 2/3 vote shall pass the amendment. The amendment shall be ratified by a second 2/3 vote at the following board meeting.
- If a passed amendment goes unratified at the next board meeting for any reason, that amendment is considered dropped. It must be presented again for a first vote at a subsequent Board meeting, followed by ratification in order to become a passed amendment.
